Twilight Film Review
Last night, I was one of the select privileged to see a screening of the much anticipated and hyped film, “Twilight”. Although the film was cinematically shot well, directed artistically, and had great actors, I felt it lacked some much-needed magic. It was a bit lackluster for me. Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen) and Kristin Stewart (Bella Swan) carried the film well. The connection between them felt right, but I wished there was a bit more to their romance. Their forbidden love lingered on and on for the duration of the seemingly longer than two hour film, without much excitement. The film has been touted as the next “Harry Potter”, but fell far short of that, in my opinion. Harry Potter was whimsical, had a magical feel, and many more action sequences. For all the hype Twilight has been receiving, I anticipated more special effects, and perhaps something awe-inspiring and unique; something never seen before. I would have also liked to have seen more screen time of the Cullen family. They were interesting to watch for the little screen time they had, and I desired to see more of their special powers. I guess that is what squeals are for. Bella and Edward only get as far as kissing in this film and that’s all they’ll ever do up until the 4th book. In the 4th book they finally go all the way but jeez that’s many films later and years away! For an introduction, the film was a good start. Fans were disappointed that their love Edward didn’t show more skin.
I asked a group of ‘tween die-hard Twilight fans what they thought of the film. They expressed that they expected to see more as well. They, too, wanted more action and interaction between the main characters and supporting and to have seen a little more sexier and passionate scenes from Bella and Edward. They gave it a 7 out of 10. I would have to agree. They appeared disappointed in the film version of Twilight and not completely satisfied. Their main complaint was that the book displayed much more detail and action. The film contained only a few dispassionate kissing scenes; not very blood pumping.
And sorry, ladies and gentlemen, but Robert doesn’t even take off his shirt in the film!
I would reccommend seeing this film for the unconventional “Romeo and Julliettesque” love story and for all those wishing to see their favorite book come to life. Twilight left fans wanting more bite for their buck. Was the hype worth it? I’ll let you decide.

He’s got the look down and the acting chops. Kellan Lutz has it all. Even a girlfriend, Kayla. So I just wanted to squash all those rumors out there that he’s dating Annalynne McCord. They are just good friends. The rumors were fueled this week when Kellan wore a shirt with the phrase “Single” on Monday night when he was out and about. It’s just a shirt people! He is still with Kayla.
