Will Michael Copon be replacing Taylor Lautner in “Twilight’s” vampire squeal “New Moon” ? It’s looking very likely. Taylor’s baby face and young age has been the topic of much discussion in Hollywood this week. Producers feel Lautner is too young. What to do? Bring in a more mature looking actor and dead ringer for Lautner, Michael Copon. In “New Moon” Lautner’s character Jacob Black is all grown up. CGI has even been proposed to make him look older in “New Moon” but that just costs way too much money. I think they will bring Michael on. What do you think?
Been reading about this for the past couple of days cause he updated his Facebook status and put up a YouTube video about it too. I’ve never seen the dude in anything so I can’t call it. Little Taylor was never “my Jacob” but I feel just awful that he might not return because he was SO EXCITED in all the press he did about being Jacob in future movies.
Eh, I still think they should go with Steven Strait. He is the one Stephanie originally wanted after all.
I agree with Amanda!!!!!! Steven Strait was my choice to begin with!!!! I do feel sorry for Taylor and I think he should get a little more in the movie!!!!! But Steven Starit has always been the person I wanted for Jacob!!!!

I don’t see the problem with Taylor’s age, AT ALL. Jacob on the book is just the same age, and even if after his change he gets bigger its nothing that Taylor can’t fix by working out besides he is in the age where they really grew a lot. From now to March or whenever they start filming he would be taller and all that.
I can’t imagine the sequels without him or any other of the previous cast.

I don’t see what the big problem is with just keeping Taylor as Jacob. It’s not like Solomon Trimble (Sam Uley) was a some massive hunk of muscle that they expect Taylor to be. I saw it’s better to just keep Taylor and not mess up the dynamic they have already set up between him and Kristen. Other things in the movie weren’t like the book. Why mess up the casting just to stay more true to the visuals described in the book? There are other things that the director could focus on; Bella’s reaction to his change in temperature, his mood swing after the change, his hair cut, anything!

I totally think Steven Strait should be Jacob, I think the whole dark look he had in ‘Sky high’ will the long hair totally looked like an older Jacob, plus he’s 22 and can pull of 25 easily
well not that michael copon would 2 a bad job but i just like taylor more. i mean michael copon is hot 2.or they could get ryan sheckler 2 play the part as jacob black in new moon cuz i mean i wouldnt mind that.all 3 of those guys would do a good job as jacob in new moon but i think it would just be wrong 2 take the part away from taylor.
The way I see it is that Summit is out to please the fans. And in general, fans don’t enjoy it when people are recast. Even the mention of having to recast the main kids in the Harry Potter movies was outrageous. They knew that if any of the main characters were recast, there would be some serious uproar and even people might even lose interest.
I feel the same way about the Twilight movies. Recasting someone makes it awkward for the future movies. It was one thing when Dumbledore had to be recast because the original actor died. (Which was terrible because he was SO much better.) But recasting Taylor because Summit thinks he’s too young? I think they need to give him a chance.
Summit needs to please the fans. We are the reason that “New Moon” is even being made. And I think that if Summit wants to please the fans, they need to keep the casting the way the fans want it.
Is the Felix from One Tree Hill? I always pictured him as Jacob while I read the book… So that’s weird if he gets it. I’ll be happy!!

I think that Jacob is supposed to be “16 years old.” Taylor is wonderful. He gets Jacob and what he’s about. I’m not happy that they are even thinking about replacing him. The exchange between Rob and Taylor in the Prom scene was perfect. Don’t mess with this cast. It’s good.

They need to stick with Taylor. Copon is too old looking. He seems to lack the youthful innocence/sweetness of the Jacob Black character. Besides, I can’t see him paired up with Kristen either. Taylor proved himself in Twilight. He has great chemistry with her too which is key.
If he plays Jacob Black in New Moon, I’ll cry myself to sleep every night. Taylor Lautner deserves to be Jacob Black more than any other actor in Hollywood. He was perfect in Twilight. So what if he’s too “boyish” or whatever the hell they mean by that. Summit is going to disappoint ALOT and I mean AAALLLOOOOTTT of fans if they change Jacob Black. They’ll lose a tremendous amout of support.

I would like for Taylor Lautner to continue, but if he doesn’t, I think Michael Copon would do a good job. Ive seen some of the shows that he’s been in, and he’s pretty good. And they do kind of look alike.
I personally am a big Taylor Lautner fan. I would really be happy if Summit kept him for the whole series, but I’ll admit, CGI is pretty expensive. . not to mention they have to somehow turn Jacob into a werewolf on top of it. So, I understand if they recast him, I think Steven Strait would do the job. But it is a shame they’re taking out Taylor.

Michael is too plain. They might as well call him Michael “Coupon.” Summit mainly wants to replace Taylor Lautner because it will save them some cash on editing. I think it’s wrong to replace him. They need to learn some camera angles and wardrobe techiniques for the height. He can get a lot more muscular on his own, he’s already put on 20 pounds of muscle since Twilight stopped filming, and digital editing and GOOD make-up can make him look even more mature. I think he’s excellent for the part of Jacob, plus he’s actually part Native American. TEAM TAYLOR

I really want Taylor to keep playing Jacob…. but now that ive seen who they want to replace him (i saw him in the Bring It On (In it to win it)movie) i kinda think hes good for the older sexier jacob… but but but… taylor was so happy to be jacob i feel sorry for him.
Taylor should be recast, you need somebody HOT to rival Edward. Taylor is cute, him on a motorcycle will look pathetic, you need someone arrogant like copon, frankly taylor is more like a ruffed up kitten, than a bad wolf.
People need to see that the film industry is harsh, its not about taylor losing out, hardwick did too. Theres a broad range of fans for twilight and the older ones contribute to sales too, i don’t believe older fans will want to watch a 16yr old whos cute. they will want someone as hot as edwrd, the alpha male people, don’t be so fickle.

i think if they are willing to spend the money to fix up taylor if he needs it by that time he may grow, the movie will make a whole lot more money
because personally i wont watch the newer movies if they change the casting…i have followed the twilight series since it first came out and i am a huge fan, but i got a feeling of all the actors in the first movie and i can’t picture any of the roles if they were played by other actors
i would refuse to watch any new movies if they change any of the major casted roles…especially with taylor because i’m team jacob all the way and i think he is the best for the role
i saw keep taylor all the wayy ! Just stick with taylor becuase for 1 michael isnt even like close to even look like tan enough to play the part and neather is strait sorry look at it that way. i just think it is wrong to take the part away from taylor he was so excited to get the partt and he work so hard to get that 8 pack for new moon i saw just let him keep his part.
