Wednesday May 25, 2008, was a bittersweet day for Sir Ian McKellen. “Investiture” at Buckingham Palace is the ceremony when the Queen bestows medals on honourees. This year, Ian was named to the Order of the Companions of Honour (CH), a very special group of about 65 people who have been recognized for their accomplishments in the arts, literature, music, science, politics, industry, or religion. It’s the third honour he’s received from the Queen. In 1979 he was named a Commander of the British Empire (CBE), and in
1991 a Knight of the British Empire (KBE).

At his first two investitures, Ian was accompanied to Buckingham Palace by his stepmother Gladys and his sister Jean, and proudly posed with them while wearing his new medals for photographers. Jean
died in 2003, and Gladys died in 2006 at the age of 100, leaving Ian as the last of his family line. Perhaps he was remembering them when he resisted calls to pose for the press, for there are no photos of
him wearing his CH medal other than an official one snapped as the Queen placed it around his neck.

Ian was accompanied to the palace on Wednesday by two long-time friends, and went to a celebratory lunch afterwards in Mayfair with a larger group of his closest friends. There everybody tried on the
medal (strictly contrary to protocol), except for Sir Ian.

I was at Hip Hop dancer and choreographer Shane Sparks Birthday this week. Some of his friends from “America’s Best Dance Crew” like the beautiful Layla Kayleigh showed up. His birthday was held at Falcon restaurant/lounge on Sunset Blvd. Everyone had a great time throwing down dance moves and having dance off’s. They also had a room with a WII set up and Shane had a signature drink for the night called “S Style.” Shane’s Birthday cookie cake said 21 but he’s more like 34! Busted!

A hot celebrity lounge in West Hollywood was falling apart before my eyes Friday night. A guy sitting in a booth next to me suffered a mild concussion when a wood circular ceiling decoration came crashing down on top of his head slicing it open. The damn thing was only attached with velcro!!! The poor guy didn’t know what hit him and was disorientated for a couple minutes. Him and his girlfriend were visiting from Australia and were in their booth enjoying a bottle of $400 or more Champaign toasting their last night in Los Angeles when out of nowhere he got struck. Also one of the chains on the swinging chairs people were sitting on broke out of the ceiling that night too! For a place that charges $14 for a Vodka Cranberry you’d think they can properly and safely install their furniture and decorations. I do not feel safe going to Coco de Ville! David Spade was there that night and if that happened to him it would be huge news! The staff was also pushing up the other decorations with the end of a broom stick because they were scared the other ceiling decorations would start falling down. I smell lawsuit.

Adrianne Curry was sold cheap at the 3rd annual Marijuana Policy Project fund raiser held at the Playboy mansion. They had to throw in another girl, actress Andrea Brooks to get the price up. Together they raked in a mere $1,750 a piece for a brunch with the unlucky lucky bidder. A Lakers Jersey signed by the team sold for $10,000! Now thats something to bid on.

Aside from all that, Adrianne is a very beautiful and lovable person. She’s totally down to earth and knows how to kick it with the guys and girls. She also looks flawless up close unlike so many other stars. That marijuana has some great anti aging properties! They put hemp in so many products now!

I spotted Brian Kehoe while I was at One Sunset Monday night and chatted him up a bit. I was surprised to see him out and about because I know that everyone is shooting the 4th season of the Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency and people are all living in a house for three weeks. When I saw him out I knew something was up. I think he got kicked out of the house! Janice has had it in for him since last season with the drinking and so forth. We love Brian. It should be a good new season.
